Movement Photography

The revolution will not be televised, and rest assured: mainstream media will twist or invisibilize our stories of resistance and community care. I started photography at the age of 14 and had the privilege of being trained at the Northwestern Medill School of Journalism, where I learned from Pulitzer-prize winning journalists. However, I had to unlearn many harmful practices of photography, such as trying to "capture" or "shoot" moments through a colonial lens. Instead, I aim to collaborate with communities and prioritize consent, active participation, and reciprocity to document people, spaces, and movements that cannot be forgotten.
